Dictionary Project
This is a project which has taken root in the Western US which I feel your clubs may have an interest. The Rotary Dictionary project has a goal of providing a HARD COVER QUALITY Children's Dictionary to EVERY 3rd grader in a clubs service area without regard to need.
This proven tested simple program provides a major impact for a local community while at the same time providing one of the best long term marketing tools for Rotary. In my 25 years of Rotary service this is the best local project EVER I have witnessed....GUARANTEED.
They're similar projects using paperback copies - these projects are missing several key elements we have identified with ours. Cheap is not always the best.
Our project evolved from a Colorado RF matching grant with India D3150 in five clubs and 4800 books. Results far exceeded hopes. This current year we will provide 16,000 books to 3rd graders in five states, 6 Rotary districts and 72 clubs. To date no club has dropped out from program once tried!!!! This year we had another 30% increase.
I have some amazing stories to share on results - but the GREATEST HIDDEN BENEFIT is the long term marketing tool for the local Rotary club. RYLA - Youth Exchange and future members. More local news media coverage has been generated from this project than anything else I have personally witnessed.
