RI District 5730 Diabetic Camp
for Children with Diabetes Mellitus
Application Deadline is
At camp, the campers enjoy fun and fellowship with other children
while they learn to be independent and deal with the various aspects of
their disease. Activities include games, sporting events and
crafts for all ages and skill levels. Meals and snacks are well
planned and supervised by a registered dietician. District
5730 is privileged to have Dr. Rolf Habersang and Sue Rankin, RN from
Texas Tech University Health Science Center-Pedi Providers as
co-directors. They bring with them an experienced staff of nurses
and nursing students to assist in providing for the children.
District 5730 will be accepting more responsibility in camp operation
and finances this year. Registration fees are based on a graduated fee
schedule and each family's ability to pay. Local Rotary Clubs are
encouraged to provide sponsorships.
We need your help to make this possible. Each club in District
5730 is asked to donate at least $500.00 to assist in providing this
camp. Donations can be sent payable to District 5730 Diabetic
Club, as well as requests for camper and staff applications to Sue
Rankin TTUHSC-Pedi Providers, 1600 Coulter, F-600,
If you should need a program for your club one day this summer, we can
find a child in that area to come speak about their experience at camp.
They just love it!
If your club is near the camp, it would be most helpful if some of your
members, Interact Club, or Rotary Club would visit the camp in the
evening. We would be happy to hear from you about any fun activity you
might be able to share. If you have talented musicians, perhaps they
could present a program.
